Honoured to be Dermavidual’s Salon of the Month for February 2017


Aqua Boutique Beauty Salon specialises in facials, using only best quality, customised products and the latest in treatments and techniques. But for Sue-Ellen, it’s about much more than excellent skin treatment. “I want my clients to enjoy a nourishing, renewing, deeply relaxing time-out from their busy lives. When they step inside Aqua, into this beautiful heritage building, I want them to feel like they’ve stepped off the merry-go-round for just an hour or two. There are no staff, just me. If you come to Aqua, you’ll have my personal attention. And every Aqua facial comes with my own signature facial massage, which I’m proud to say has developed something of a reputation in the local Teneriffe area for its soothing powers. My aim is for my clients to feel completely replenished, as they step back out into the busy humming playground that is Teneriffe, in inner city Brisbane”. Sue-Ellen chatted to us about Aqua and her passion for skin & quality skincare.

What keeps you inspired professionally? “Aqua is a labour of love for me. I worked in various beauty salons for over ten years, before opening Aqua in 2004. I love the heritage building and the regenerated inner city neighbourhood with its many restaurants and bars. But mostly, I love seeing the transformation in my clients. I love working with exceptional quality products like dermaviduals and it so professionally rewarding to watch my clients’ skin improve from month to month. Secretly I’m even more delighted when I see overworked, always on the go professionals let their everyday stresses go as I massage their skin. When they get so relaxed, they fall asleep, I take it as a badge of honour!”

What do you value most in your business? “It’s not always been easy along the way, but I love that I have complete control of my business. That means there are no compromises when it comes to quality service and the best products. And that’s allowed me to build loyalty, trust and friendship with my clients. That’s priceless to me.”

How has dermaviduals impacted your business? “Aqua has always been about best quality, so I was very happy to discover dermaviduals, after searching for a new skincare range for about three years. dermaviduals has allowed me to take Aqua to the next level of personalised skin solutions.  I like that there are no emulsifiers, which can build up and compromise the skin.  I’m impressed that dermaviduals uses a ground-breaking composition to resemble the membrane structure of the natural skin barrier and effectively deliver the product’s active ingredients just where they’re needed.  And I love the way it ‘s individually tailored for each client, with customised ingredients to suit your particular skin condition.  I’m seeing results so far and so are my clients.”

What is your favourite dermaviduals product and why? “Suusmoon Lotion N.  This my favourite treat morning and evening, after I cleanse.  It feels like water, looks like milk and is full of essential fatty acids to restore the natural balance of my skin.”

What is your number one skin care tip? “Consistency.  Of course having the right products for your skin is important, but they’re no good sitting on the shelf.  If you care for skin with a good regime, morning and evening, that shows in the long term. And if I could just add more tip: good nutrition. You are what you eat!”

New products and equipment enter the beauty industry almost daily. How do you keep up with this and how do you determine what is hype and what is genuine? “I always try to look past marketing hype and avoid fads. I have 23 years experience in beauty therapy and have built a strong rapport with other trusted industry professionals and we regularly share information and advice on products that meet our quality standard and will stand the test of time.”
